⚡️ Taskflow Tuesday: December 19, 2023
4 hidden iPhone features, how to read 5 books a month, and a tool to unsubscribe from emails.
👋 Hello!
This is issue #23 of Taskflow Tuesday, where I share 3 things that can help you to get digitally organized so that you can spend more time on what truly matters.
🤳🏻 1. Hidden iPhone Features
🫨 Customize Vibrations for Contacts: You can set custom vibration patterns for specific contacts. This allows you to identify who's calling or texting without even looking at your phone.
⚙️ To do this, go to the Contacts app, select the contact you want to set a custom vibration for, tap "Edit" in the top-right corner, and then scroll down to "Vibration".
From there, you can create a custom vibration pattern or choose from existing ones.
📚 Offline Reading List: You can save web pages to your Reading List for offline access.
⚙️ To do this, open Safari, visit the webpage you want to save, tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up), and then select "Add to Reading List".
This will download the page for offline reading later, even if you don't have an internet connection.
To find your Reading List, tap the book icon in the bottom-right corner of the Safari app, then tap the glasses icon at the top of the sidebar that appears.
⚡️ Text Replacement Shortcuts: You can create custom keyboard shortcuts for frequently used phrases or words. This can save you time when typing.
⚙️ To set up text replacements, go to "Settings" > "General" > "Keyboard" > "Text Replacement" and tap the "+" icon to add a new shortcut.
I use "omw" as a shortcut for "On my way!" all the time.
📚 2. How to Read 5 Books a Month by Cal Newport
🎯 4 Key Takeaways:
📖 To read more, choose a wide variety of interesting books, mix audio and written formats, and always have one in progress.
📅 Schedule dedicated reading sessions just like you schedule exercise to prioritize reading.
☕ Create enjoyable rituals around reading, like having a drink or setting up a comfortable reading space.
📵 Remove distracting apps from your phone to make reading your default leisure activity, boosting your reading productivity.
📬 3. Unsubscribe from Emails FAST
With Unroll.me you can quickly sort which email subscriptions you want to keep, unsubscribe from, or rollup into a daily email with a personal selection of newsletters. Try it out and let me know what you think!
That’s all for now! Have a great day. 👊🏼
