👋 Hello!
This is issue #56 of Taskflow Tuesday, where I share 3 things that can help you to get digitally organized so that you can spend more time on what truly matters.
🖥️ 1. Stop Building Systems on Top of Chaos
It’s tempting to “get organized” by jumping straight into new tools, templates, and routines.
But you can’t build systems that last on top of chaos.
If your digital life is already a mess, adding a new system might feel productive, but long term, it just adds another layer of noise.
What should you do instead?
Step 1: Eliminate the mess.
Put all of those desktop files into a single folder called “Inbox”.
Archive old notes and tasks that are just taking up space.
Archive your emails and unsubscribe from most of your subscriptions.
Mute all nonessential notifications.
Step 2: Simplify your tools.
Choose one calendar, one task system, one notes app.
(Not six. One.)
Remove tools you “might use one day” but haven’t touched in months.
Step 3: Build from the ground up.
Add only what’s essential.
Create a simple weekly planning habit.
Design a workflow that actually reflects how you live and work.
Declutter, then build on that foundation.
☀️ 2. The Power of a Midday Check-In
Most people start the day with a rough idea of what they want to get done. But by lunchtime? That plan has either been hijacked by distractions or completely forgotten.
That’s why I’ve started doing a 2-minute midday check-in, and it’s changing how my afternoons go.
Here’s how it works:
Pause around noon (or whenever your day naturally shifts).
Ask:
What have I actually done today?
What’s still on my plate?
What matters most between now and the end of the day?
Reorder your priorities if needed.
Sometimes, I’ll realize I’ve been dragging my feet on my Top Priority task for the day. This midday check-in helps me reset and re-commit to what actually needs to get done.
Try it tomorrow. Set a calendar alert or an alarm. You might be surprised how much clarity 2 minutes can give you.
🏖️ 3. A Summer Without Algorithms
I wanted to share this wonderful video about the best way to spend your summer. Also the filmmaking here is incredible. Enjoy.
Here are some ways I’m spending my Summer away from the Screen:
🏖️ Taking a trip to the beach.
📖 Reading Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury (a love letter to summer).
☀️ Soaking up the sun in my backyard.
🏃🏻♂️ Going on runs at the lake before it gets too hot.
🍔 Grilling burgers with friends.
🍿 Going to the movies.
🏓 Playing Pickle Ball
💭 Thinking about how free and fun summers were as a kid.
How are you spending your summer?
Want to work together?
