👋 Hello!
This is issue #36 of Taskflow Tuesday, where I share 3 things that can help you to get digitally organized so that you can spend more time on what truly matters.
☀️ 1. Two Versions of Your Morning Routine
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, having a flexible yet structured morning routine can make a significant difference in how you start your day.
One effective strategy is to create two versions of your morning routine: a long version for days when you have plenty of time and a short version for those rushed mornings.
This approach helps reduce stress, keeps you on track, and ensures you start your day on the right foot regardless of your schedule.
Why Two Versions?
🤸♂️ Flexibility: Life is unpredictable. Some mornings, you might have all the time in the world, while others, you might be running late. Having a flexible routine allows you to adapt without losing the benefits of a structured start.
😮💨 Reduced Stress: Knowing you have a plan, whether you have ten minutes or an hour, helps reduce the anxiety of a rushed morning. This can improve your mood and set a positive tone for the rest of the day.
🔂 Consistency: A consistent routine, even if it's shortened, helps reinforce good habits. Over time, these habits become second nature, making it easier to stick to your routine.
🐢 The Long Version
Wake up early: Allow yourself enough time to wake up gradually.
Mindfulness: Spend 10-15 minutes meditating or practicing mindfulness.
Exercise: Incorporate a 30-minute workout to get your blood flowing.
Healthy breakfast: Prepare and enjoy a nutritious breakfast.
Planning: Take 10 minutes to review your goals for the day and prioritize your tasks.
Personal development: Read a book, listen to a podcast, or engage in another form of personal growth for 20-30 minutes.
🐇 The Short Version
Quick wake-up: Get out of bed immediately, no snoozing.
Brief mindfulness: Spend 2-3 minutes focusing on your breath or practicing gratitude.
Mini workout: Do a 5-10 minute stretch or quick exercise routine.
Grab-and-go breakfast: Have a pre-prepared healthy breakfast, like a smoothie or overnight oats.
Quick review: Spend 2-3 minutes reviewing your top priorities for the day.
Having two versions of your morning routine helps you stay consistent with your habits, even on busy days.
Take some time to create your long and short versions, and watch how this small adjustment can lead to big improvements in your daily life.
📱 2. Optimize the Control Center on iPhone
The control center is the dashboard of tools where brightness, wifi, and other tools are located.
Customizing your Control Center offers quick access to essential functions, saves time, and personalizes your device to fit your needs.
😁 Here’s my setup:
⚙️ How to Edit Your Control Center
Open Settings: Tap the Settings app.
Tap Control Center: Scroll down and select "Control Center."
Customize Controls: Tap "Customize Controls."
Add or Remove Items: Tap the green "+" to add and the red "-" to remove items.
Rearrange Items: Drag items to reorder them.
🛠️ Daily Use Examples
Flashlight: Quickly find things in the dark.
Timer: Set timers for cooking or workouts.
Camera: Capture moments instantly.
Do Not Disturb: Focus during meetings.
Screen Recording: Record tutorials or important info.
Home Controls: Manage smart devices.
Low Power Mode: Save battery life when it's low.
Take 2 minutes to customize your Control Center today and make your iPhone more effective and tailored to your daily routine.
🛌 3. No Phones in the Bedroom
Keeping your phone out of the bedroom can significantly improve your sleep quality.
Without the constant notifications and blue light, you'll fall asleep faster and enjoy deeper, more restful sleep.
⏰ I recommend switching it out for an analog alarm clock.
⚡️ Here’s why you should consider it:
Better Sleep: Reduce exposure to blue light and avoid the temptation of late-night scrolling.
Stress Reduction: Wake up to a gentle alarm without the stress of notifications right away.
Improved Focus: Start your day with intention, not distraction.
Pick up an analog alarm clock today. Your sleep and overall well-being will thank you!
