👋 Hello!
This is issue #16 of Taskflow Tuesday, where I share 3 things that can help you to get digitally organized so that you can spend more time on what truly matters.
✅ Tip: Color Code Your Calendar
Color-coding your calendar can significantly enhance your productivity and streamline your scheduling process.
By assigning specific colors to different categories or types of activities, you can quickly identify and differentiate between them at a glance.
For example, you can assign blue to work-related tasks and meetings, green for personal events, red for important deadlines, and yellow leisure activities.
This visual distinction allows you to assess your day or week at a glance and helps you prioritize your time effectively.
Implementing color-coding in your calendar brings a sense of order and organization to your schedule, making it easier to manage your time and stay on top of your responsibilities.
Decide on categories: Figure out the different types of activities you want to color-code, like school, sports, hobbies, or family events.
Choose colors: Pick colors that you like and can easily tell apart. For example, blue for school, green for sports, and yellow for hobbies.
Apply colors: When adding events to your calendar, use the right color for each activity. Use the color-coding feature in your calendar app or highlight them manually.
Stay consistent: Make sure to use the same colors for the same types of activities all the time. This way, it becomes easier to understand your schedule at a glance.
📱 Tool: Apple Shortcuts
Apple Shortcuts can be an incredibly useful and beneficial tool for enhancing your productivity and streamlining your daily tasks on Apple devices. With Shortcuts, you can automate repetitive actions, create custom workflows, and save time and effort in various ways.
Here’s an example of a shortcut that I use every day.
Automating Low Power Mode.
Low Power Mode is a feature that disables certain background activities to extend battery life.
With Apple Shortcuts, you can create an automated workflow that enables Low Power Mode when your battery level hits 30%.
This way, you don't have to worry about manually enabling it every time your battery starts to run low.
To set up this shortcut, follow these steps:
Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
Tap on the "+" button to create a new shortcut.
Tap on "Add Action" to add actions to your shortcut.
Search for and select the "Set Low Power Mode" action.
Set the "Power Mode" option to "On."
Tap on the "+" button to add another action.
Search for and select the "Battery Level" action.
Set the battery level to "is less than or equal to" and enter "30."
Tap on the "+" button again to add a final action.
Search for and select the "Run Shortcut" action.
Choose the name of your Low Power Mode shortcut from the list.
With a bit of creativity, you can automate a wide range of tasks and customize your phone to suit your specific needs, ultimately saving time and boosting your productivity. Shortcuts offers a ton of premade templates that you can start testing out today. Find what works for you and turn your phone back into a tool that helps you instead of distracts you.
