👋 Hello!
This is issue #60 of Taskflow Tuesday, where I share 3 things that can help you to get digitally organized so that you can spend more time on what truly matters.
🪨 1. Stepping Stones
This isn’t a normal Taskflow tip, but I’ve been thinking about it recently and thought it could be helpful:
We’re told the lie that whatever’s in front of us is the end goal. That this job, this season, or this role is the final destination.
Perspective is everything and a simple metaphor gave me the confidence to reject that mindset and it allowed me to try stuff out, fail, and learn along the way - a crucial skill for anyone in their 20s.
For over a decade I have used the metaphor of “stepping stones” to describe jobs, seasons of life, and other responsibilities.
They are steps on a path that are leading me to the next step.
I didn’t have to put so much pressure on everything I did. I didn’t have to be gripped with fear of failure, because every time I failed I learned from it and found myself closer to the next step on the path.
Take some time to reflect how you view your current stage of life. Hopefully some perspective can relieve the pressure.
📲 2. Leverage Your Lock Screen
This takes 2 minutes, but it might have a big impact on your day.
Set a custom lock screen with your current focus or goal.
Most of us check our phones over 100 times a day without even thinking about it. Now you can be reminded of what you’re aiming for throughout your day.
Make your environment do the reminding so your brain doesn’t have to. Sometimes, a little visual nudge is enough.
🏈 3. Quote from Friday Night Lights
“Success isn’t the goal. It’s a by-product.”
— Coach Taylor
